About

Hi, I'm Mary

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor providing telehealth therapy to clients in Washington, DC and Virginia.

This might not be your first time trying therapy.

You may already be self-aware.
You’ve thought about your patterns.
You might even understand why you do what you do.

And still something isn’t shifting.

That’s the kind of work I’m interested in.

I work with people who think deeply, feel intensely, and are ready for something more than surface-level change.

Many of my clients come in feeling:

  • stuck in patterns they can name but not change
  • overwhelmed or emotionally drained
  • disconnected from themselves in ways that are hard to explain

They’re not starting from zero.
They’re ready to go deeper.

How I approach therapy

What it feels like to work with me

What it feels like to work with me

I don’t believe change happens just by talking about things.

Insight matters but it’s often not enough on its own.

We pay attention to:

  • patterns that show up in your thoughts and relationships
  • how your nervous system responds under stress
  • the language of your body, what you feel, avoid, or push past

A big part of the work is slowing things down enough to actually notice what’s happening underneath the surface.

From there, something different becomes possible.

What it feels like to work with me

What it feels like to work with me

What it feels like to work with me

My style is warm, collaborative, and honest.

I’ll meet you where you are and once we’ve built some trust,

I may gently challenge you in ways that help you see things more clearly.

Clients often tell me:

  • this feels different than therapy they’ve tried before
  • they feel safe and not judged
  • they understand themselves in a deeper way
  • they feel more confident navigating difficult emotions

I also bring my authentic self into the room including humor when it fits because therapy doesn’t have to feel rigid or clinical to be meaningful.

What I believe

Who this work is for

Who this work is for

I don’t believe progress looks perfect.

I don’t believe you’re broken.

I believe the patterns you have make sense and that with the right kind of attention, they can shift.

Who this work is for

Who this work is for

Who this work is for

This work tends to resonate most with people who are:

  • open to looking at themselves honestly
  • willing to slow down and notice what’s happening beneath the surface
  • ready to engage in the process, even when it’s uncomfortable

You don’t have to do it perfectly, just be willing.

A note on fit

Therapy is personal.

Not every therapist is the right fit for every person and that’s okay.

If something here resonates, this may be a good place to start.
